I am updating this so that it better reflects collaborations of music and videos by Steve Howard and whoever as opposed to collaborations that are a part of the ABetterWorldWithSteveAndMusic.com project which has the focus on songs of rights and peace and so forth.
The projects may make any music all involved want, but since the ABetterWorldWithSteveAndMusic.com project more has specific goals I thought the agreement should reflect that.
This is an agreement on who holds rights to songs, videos, etc. that Steve Howard and whoever collaborates with him.
Any concerns or ideas about this please email to let me know.
If you are involved in this project you are agreeing with the below but this does NOT in any way limit what you can do outside of the project or collaboration, but as a part of working with me (Steve) on music, video, etc you agree that:
1) All works (lyrics, recordings, etc) are owned by the person that creates it and can not be used by others without permission.
2) If someone adds something & then decides before it has been released they do not want it in the work it must be removed by ALL people having a copy of that part and not use it in any way whatsoever unless express written permission is given by the owner.
3) Once works become a mixture it is equally owned by all those that had to do with the creation of the work.
4) No work (song, etc) shall be released until there is a full 100% consensus by all involved.
5) How and where it is released or distributed is the same, a full 100% consensus needs be had.
6) If there are any monetary proceeds it is to be split evenly by all involved in the project/collaboration.
7) Songwriting credit, copyright and all else is by and for everyone involved. For example, say I (Steve) do all the instruments, writing of melody, mixing, mastering, artwork, etc and the other person involved only sings, BOTH of us are credited in every field (songwriter, copyright, publishing, etc) since without both of us the song wouldn’t exist.
That’s definitely not the most common approach but I feel it’s the fairest and can make sure to help keep a positive, friendly and fair treatment to one and all that are involved.
8) If you’re under 18 years old a parent or guardian needs to read and agree to this on your behalf for us to collaborate.
Further, the work(s) can be legally registered & copyrighted (which offers more robust and legal protection) if all involved in that particular work want to do that & would depend upon the laws of the countries the creators live in.
Please read & understand the above & either print and sign and give me a copy or email me stating you agree and copy and past this in the email or include the url website address of this page.
I’ll be glad to talk about any ideas or concerns you have but if you disagree we would need to get something written down and signed by both of us for me to be involved in working with you.
Some may wonder why having this at all but if you spend a bit of time looking into bands and people that had problems and maybe ruined friendships and partnerships I think you’ll clearly understand why doing this is important for all involved.
Any revisions will be on the site.
